What are digital achievements and trophies? Virtually every single game released for the Xbox 360 and Playstation 4 home entertainment consoles feature a system of IN GAME challenges that are very often optional for a player to complete. Between the Xbox 360 and Playstation 4, these challenges are virtually identical, although they are simply labeled "Achievements" on the Xbox 360, and "Trophies" on the Playstation 4. Each achievement completed on the Xbox 360 gives a player a set amount of "gamer score" counting both towards an overall numerical count, as well as counting towards the individual game in which the player earned the achievement.

            Also worth noting is the fact that each Xbox 360 and Playstation 4 video game has a CAP on how many trophies and/or achievements can be earned. Reaching the achievement cap on Xbox 360 titles is generally referred to as "completion" of said title, and a player is awarded a "Platinum Trophy" for obtaining all respective trophies on a Playstation 4 title.

            Generally speaking, full collection of all trophies and/or achievements on various titles can range from moderate to an extremely advanced difficulty. Full completion of a title can often signify complete mastery and knowledge of the title in question, and some games are far more challenging than others to complete. An excellent example of very challenging games to complete are Super Contra and Gears of War 2; the latter of which had an achievement entitled "Seriously 2.0" requiring the player to obtain 100,000 kills in any game mode. Jacob has obtained the Seriously 2.0 achievement through competitive multiplayer kills alone, but not just once; since he has an overall record of 215,000 plus (multiplayer exclusive) kills -- one of the highest kill counts on the face of the earth (out of 4+ Million Registered Guardian players) at the time in which he obtained those numbers.
